Avenue Wedding | Kaitlyn & Jack

Filed in: Weddings

It’s true, prayers CAN be answered, and that’s exactly what happened for Kaitlyn and Jack’s Avenue wedding.  Weather is always a worry when it comes to wedding days. I tell each of my brides that it doesn’t matter if it rains because we will still get beautiful portraits either way, and more importantly, they will be married. THAT is the whole point of the day! I’ve lucked out on a few wedding days that called for rain and on several occasions, it’s called for 100% rain all day but we don’t see a drop.

It WAS raining as I drove into Greenville that morning to meet with the girls, but by the time I pulled up to Oliver Hooper’s offices, the clouds were starting to part. We got through their First Look without rain, did portraits outside at the church, and made it back to the reception in the clear. I kept thinking things were going to take a turn for the worse, but they never did!

It did end up pouring rain during the reception, but everyone was dancing the night away inside. And as luck continued to shine, it stopped for their grand exit. It sounds like I’m making this up, but we were all amazed, and I knew in my heart that this was a God wink…making a perfect day even more beautiful.

Kaitlyn and Jack, thank you for letting me capture the beginning of your story together as husband and wife. What a joyful day it was! I hope these photos bring back all those feelings for many years to come.

Love, love, love family heirlooms on wedding days. Both of these pieces of jewelry belonged to Kaitlyn’s grandmother.

Brides, I may be making a bold statement here, but you will not get this kind of pure joyful reaction or be able to HUG your groom without doing a first look. I can’t help but smile when I look at this too!

This bouquet is what floral dreams are made of. Coral charm peonies, poppies, peach ranunculus with jasmine vine!? Yes, please!

Kaitlyn let her bridesmaids choose their own dress in any shade of blue, and I loved how it turned out!

That single tear drop.

I’m all about making moments matter on wedding days. I tell my brides not to rush getting ready because their mom may have looked forward to that moment for a long time, or not to cut dances short because it’s the one chance to share special a moment with dad. Well, Kaitlyn and Jack took it a step further with a totally impromptu decision to bring the other parent out to dance. So, while Kaitlyn danced with her dad, Jack danced with her mom, and the same for Jack’s parent dances. It was such a sweet way to include the mother-of-the-bride and father-of-the-groom, who typically don’t get a special dance at the reception. I think this needs to be a new tradition!

We dodged the rainstorm all day, but I could tell that was about to change so I grabbed Kaitlyn and Jack for a few more rooftop portraits before the dance party started. It was a good thing I did because the clouds opened up about 5 minutes after we finished!
