Julie and Ryan first met at Clemson University when she was making visits for graduate school. Ryan was an Architecture graduate student finishing up a project for his semester final review when she walked into the studio. Julie said he was very busy during this encounter and probably doesn’t remember much of it, but she said he definitely made an impression on her. Little did they know, she would end up attending Clemson and meeting Ryan again the following year. The two started as friends, but eventually realized there was something more there.
After college, the couple endured some long distance dating and eventually moved to Seattle for their jobs. For this reason, we were not able to have an engagement session, but luckily I was able to Skype with them and meet Julie in-person a couple times before the wedding. They both have the most welcoming personalities and make you want to be friends with them right away. Their contagious laughs (looking at you, Julie!), “dance-like-no-one-is-watching” attitudes, and outpouring of love they showed their friends, family, and one another made this day so special for me. I left feeling so happy for them and knowing that there was not one thing I would have changed about their day. It was perfect.
Ryan and Julie, thank you so much for sharing this day with me and enjoy looking through my favorites!
Julie made an incredible book documenting their relationship since Day 1. It included photos from all of their vacations, adventures, day dates, and holidays. The last page included the scripture read during their ceremony. It was such a thoughtful gift! I told Ryan that this book would be Volume One, and we would be getting lots of photos to start Volume TWO that day! Time for their First Look… Julie and I worked together to meticulously plan their portraits for the day. She arranged to have family members ready with cars to take the wedding party to the Falls Park for photos, then they picked us back up and we went to Grace Church to complete all their family photos. It worked out PERFECTLY. We stayed right on schedule, created so much variety, and got ALL their photos done BEFORE the ceremony. If you’re a bride and debating on a First Look, just check out how many more portraits they got on their day!! And obviously, Julie and Ryan had a blast enjoying their day together rather than hidden away in separate spaces. Since the ceremony and reception took place at the same location and we already had all family formals complete, Julie and Ryan were able to enjoy their cocktail hour AND get more portraits before sunset.
