Even though I have been photographing weddings for over 10 years, there are still some venues around SC that I have never been to! This was my first time at The Oaks wedding venue in Anderson, and it was gorgeous!

Caroline and Will wanted an intimate celebration with family and friends. Each of their families has that *one* wedding portrait that encompasses the day. That’s all she wanted from their own wedding. I assured her that she would have PLENTY of portraits to choose from for that favorite *one* photo! With a sweet First Look and a gorgeous glowy sunset, I think they will have more than one favorite to frame.

Such a fun and laid back day, and I hope to be able to come back again to this beautiful venue soon! Enjoy some of my favorites from Caroline and Will’s day.Part of being a wedding photographer means making constant mental choices throughout the day. Where to set up details, the easiest spot to move wedding party for photos, what time to get in place during the ceremony to ensure I’m ready for the first kiss shot, and so so much more.

For their sunset portraits, I knew I wanted to move up the hill to get the view looking back towards the water. When we started walking up that way though, I saw the sunlight hitting perfectly through the trees and said STOP! This shows just another mental choice to always be prepared for unexpected light!My couples are trusting and adventurous and I love that. Walking into tall grass or weeds almost always happens without hesitation. Caroline and Will did just that too. Even when her dress got filled with grasshoppers and one giant spider, she didn’t panic too much! Thank goodness for all of those layers keeping the crawlers away!
