It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged, and while part of me grappled with the negative repurcussions of being absent online, my heart kept telling me that I needed this. The last time I took a “break” was during my maternity leave. Before we had Evy, I planned to use that time to organize, update, and rebrand JSP and to give myself rest. Oh, how naive I was…who was I kidding?! I spent those six weeks with no sleep, learning how to become a mother, and then started right back in to the hussle of wedding season. There was no time to rejuvenate my business or myself.
This year though, I gave myself the opportunity to take a hiatus. After two amazing weddings in January, I took eight weeks off…the longest break I’ve had from shooting and editing since I started my business. Instead of feeling guilty, I relished in this time. I spent my mornings cuddling Evy in bed and afternoons playing on the floor with her. We painted and redecorated my office, which inspired an update of my brand/website as well. I’m designing new marketing material and an awesome welcome magazine for JSP brides. I took an online course to refresh my editing skills. I got a library card and started reading again. I devoted days to cleaning and organizing, and then took a few to binge watch my Netflix list. Taking a break was just what I needed, and I’m so excited to start sharing with you again.
To be honest, I’m actually embarrassed to tell you how many blog posts I’ve written and never posted, so I’m bringing out a new series called “From the Archives”. I have posts from my own wedding planning experience, baby prepping, lots of never-before-seen bridal sessions, travel photos, and more. When you read these, they will be written months ago (maybe years!?), so forgive the off-timing in speech.
To all the sweet, kind people who continue to follow my work and life on this little piece of the internet, I’m so thankful you stick around and hope you’ll continue to stay tuned!
Follow along for more of my life, recent work, and everything in between.
