Anna and Alex were truly such a joy to work with. Before my own wedding last year, Anna sent me a handwritten thank you card for their engagement photos but also went on to give me the best advice I received before saying my own vows. She told me not to focus or stress too much on the small stuff, like finishing last minute wedding details, because all that mattered would be waiting for me at the end of the aisle. I took those words to heart and when we had a couple hiccups on our wedding day, I made sure not to let them bother me. She was right…all that mattered was the fact that we were married.
Fast forward to her wedding day, and I hope that she felt the same way I did, abiding by those sweet words she wrote. Anna and Alex’s day started out with beautiful sunny weather, but as the time for the ceremony drew closer, the dark clouds did too. When the music changed for Anna to walk down the aisle, that’s when the clouds burst and it started pouring rain.
Weather like this would upset any bride, but I was impressed with how well Anna kept her composure. I’m thankful that everyone was able to roll with the punches that day (they ended up getting married twice!). I’m thankful for the stash of umbrellas that I keep in my car. I’m thankful for the coordinator’s assistant who held an umbrella over ME during the ceremony so I could stay in the rain and capture the day as it happened. I’m thankful that I get to work with such amazing couples like these two.
Anna and Alex, when you look back on your wedding photos, I hope you’ll remember all the wonderful moments that happened and (someday) laugh at the unfortunate timing of the rain. But most importantly, realize that you have all you need is right next to you.
Follow along for more of my life, recent work, and everything in between.
