Wedding days have so much preparation involved, but something as simple as a rain on the forecast can change a lot of those plans. I was praying that we would get lucky and the weather would change, but we were hit with 100% chance of rain all day for this Gassaway mansion wedding. Without this unexpected weather though, we wouldn’t have had one of the most memorable ceremonies I’ve experienced.

Shelley and Scott’s ceremony was planned for outside the Gassaway Mansion. Chairs were set, aisle decor was made, and the beautiful drapery on the front porch columns was, well, dripping wet. They made the call to move the ceremony indoors just an hour before. With 180 guests coming, we knew it was going to be a tight fit, but once I saw the filled space, it was so impactful! All of their friends and family squished into this one room to witness their vows. My favorite part of the ceremony was when the officiant asked them to look out at their guests to appreciate the moment. It obviously pulled on Shelley’s heartstrings, but did mine as well!

Even with the rain, this wedding day was so joyful. Shelley and Scott, thank you for trusting me and heeding my advice to enjoy the day as it comes. I think it was perfect that way! Enjoy some of my favorites from this Gassaway Mansion wedding.Their adorable pup Nelly even got to make a surprise appearance!
