There is something so meaningful about being invited back into a family’s story. I had the honor of photographing Kylee’s sister’s wedding in 2022, so walking into Heyward Manor that day felt like a sweet reunion. Familiar hugs, familiar laughter, and the joy of celebrating another beautiful chapter for this wonderful family.
Kylee and Connor chose not to do a first look, wanting to save that moment for the aisle. Instead, they shared private vows from either side of a doorway before the ceremony. They couldn’t see each other, but they held hands, steadying one another as they spoke words they had carefully written. It was intimate and emotional in the most understated way, the kind of moment that reminds me why I love what I do.
One of my favorite moments came during the reception. After Connor shared a heartfelt dance with his mom and Kylee danced with her dad, Kylee did something unforgettable by surprising her mom with a mother/daughter dance. It was her way of saying thank you for the countless hours, prayers, and love poured into not just the wedding day, but her whole life. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room, including mine! I absolutely loved seeing her mom honored in such a beautiful and intentional way.
It was a joyful, elegant, sun-soaked celebration, and such a gift to reconnect with this family again. Being trusted twice to capture their most meaningful moments is something I’ll never take for granted.
