Thirty weddings photographed, 32 heirloom albums/portrait books/parent albums designed and delivered, SO many sessions, and innumerable hours of editing. Looking at my 2021 calendar at the start of last year, I knew it was going to be a challenge. In thirteen years of business, it was more work than I’d ever faced before due to the covid reschedules on top of my fully booked calendar. We had just finished a year that was so emotionally draining, and to be completely transparent, my mental health was not the best after 2020. But once my weddings started, every time I was able to get behind my camera was a blessing and helped me inch my way into feeling whole again.

Truly, I get teary thinking about it. 2021 gave me many amazing couples to work with, and beautiful families who have forever touched my heart with their kindness. It felt deep-in-your-soul good and so right to be there with them living in their best moments, sharing hugs or tears, and sometimes forgetting that I wasn’t part of their family too. Thirty weddings was a lot for me, but it was what I needed to regain my confidence and drive for what I truly love to do. To my couples and their families, with my whole heart, thank you for everything.

And it goes without saying, I couldn’t have finished last year without the help of my own family at home. They have always been my biggest cheerleaders and I cherish them for that.

Now, I look forward to having another great year capturing love stories, just maybe a few less! Enjoy some of my many, many, many favorites in this Best of 2021 weddings feature. (It’s annoyingly long, I couldn’t help myself!)
