Liz and Alex have such a sweet story: they met in middle school, and while she was interested in him, they never dated. Their two year age difference was a lot back then! They reconnected after Alex graduated USC and have been together ever since. I love how fate brings our paths full circle sometimes!
This past spring, at Alex’s family’s Easter celebration, he surprised Liz with a proposal. They were walking towards the dock at his family’s lake house and all of the kids were by the shore. She thought it was odd that they were standing so still, but didn’t have a clue what was about to happen! Then, she saw that they were all holding signs which read “Will you marry Uncle Owl?” (their name for Alex). She said she saw Alex get down on one knee and give a sweet speech to her, but she was so excited that she forgot all the words (I did the same thing!!). Their family joined in the celebration by taking a boat ride on the lake with lots of champagne toasts.
Alex and Liz just bought their first home together, so we decided to use their new neighborhood as the location for their engagement session. And while it may not have felt like fall, the leaves were finally showing some color! These two were so comfortable in front of the camera and let their fun spirits shine. I am thrilled to be working with them during this exciting season of life, and I can’t wait for their wedding in July!
Alex asked if they should be smiling in all their photos, so I told him that mixing it up with some serious faces was good too. I think they nailed it…and I LOVE that he was willing and wanted to try it!!
We finished the day with their two pups on the porch of their new home. I know they will cherish these first family portraits with their fur babies. Love how their dogs are smiling too!
